2

water
For steeping the tea and spices.
2
bags
black tea
Or 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea.
½
tsp
ground cinnamon
Or 1 small cinnamon stick.
¼
tsp
ground ginger
Or 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger.
¼
tsp
ground cardamom
Or 3 cardamom pods, crushed.
1
tsp
vanilla extract
For a smooth vanilla flavor.
2
tbsp
honey or maple syrup
Adjust to taste.
For the Milk
1
cup
milk
Whole milk, almond milk, or oat milk.
¼
tsp
nutmeg
Optional, for extra warmth.
Instructions
In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add black tea bags, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat, add vanilla extract and honey (or maple syrup), and let steep for another 2 minutes.
Strain the tea mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a cup or another saucepan.
In a separate saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling. Optionally, use a milk frother to create foam.
Pour the warm milk into the strained tea and stir gently.
Sprinkle with nutmeg (if using) and serve immediately.
Notes
For an iced version, allow the tea mixture to cool, then serve over ice with frothed cold milk. Adjust sweetness and spice levels to your taste.
