Vanilla Chai Latte

Ingredients
  

For the Chai Base

  • 2 cups water For steeping the tea and spices.
  • 2 bags black tea Or 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea.
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon Or 1 small cinnamon stick.
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger Or 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger.
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom Or 3 cardamom pods, crushed.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract For a smooth vanilla flavor.
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup Adjust to taste.

For the Milk

  • 1 cup milk Whole milk, almond milk, or oat milk.
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg Optional, for extra warmth.

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add black tea bags, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, add vanilla extract and honey (or maple syrup), and let steep for another 2 minutes.
  • Strain the tea mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a cup or another saucepan.
  • In a separate saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling. Optionally, use a milk frother to create foam.
  • Pour the warm milk into the strained tea and stir gently.
  • Sprinkle with nutmeg (if using) and serve immediately.

Notes

For an iced version, allow the tea mixture to cool, then serve over ice with frothed cold milk. Adjust sweetness and spice levels to your taste.
